Partial migration in European blackbirds

Migration is a behavioural strategy used by many species to cope with seasonal environments. Whether, when, and where to migrate are crucial decisions individuals have to make. How do they make these decisions?

Using European blackbirds, we are trying to answer these questions using state-of-the-art tracking technologies with both wild and aviary-bred individuals.

During my first post-doc, I am joining the blackbird project is led by Dr. Jesko Partecke at the Max-Planck Institute for Animal Behaviour. Read more on this project here.
